We have experienced lawyers dealing with both Private Law (cases disputed within families where a family member is the applicant), Public Law (which are cases where Social Services are the applicant, please see our Social Services link for more detail).
Focusing on Private law cases here, these include applications for:
Child arrangements Orders to determine where a child should live, of who they should have contact with. We are experienced in supporting clients who are going through a separation. We know how difficult this can be, and how that can affect your children.
Prohibited Steps Orders to protect a child from something or someone.
Specific Issue Orders to decide a particular point, like whether a child can go on holiday, which school they attend, or what medical procedure they should or should not undertake etc
Adoption being applications by any person, even a parent, who is seeking to permanently care for a child, and claim them as their own.
Grandparents Rights where we can provide advice and representation in court to maintain grandchild relationships.
International element cases such as those that involve Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Forced Marriage, Abduction, Cross boarder child travel disputes, Hague Convention,
Public funding (Legal Aid) can be offered to those parents, family members, or connected parties who qualify based on assessment of the strength of your case, and a financial assessment. In many cases, evidence of being the victim of Domestic Abuse by one of the other parties in the case can assist on obtaining Legal Aid, though not always necessary in every single case.
Where Legal Aid is not available for your case, we can still assist you at privately paying rates that are affordable, clear and agreed in advance.
Law Society and/or Resolution accredited lawyers can handle your case and we are able to provide skilful negotiation, and court advocacy services in Court to ensure a consistent and professional service.
There are a number of different orders that can be applied for or opposed by VCW Law on your behalf. If you are not sure how we can help, please call us to talk it through.
